Monroe Realtors Shelter Fund
The Monroe Downriver Regional Association of REALTORS established a fund in 1990 whereby agents and/or brokers contribute money from each real estate transaction. It was decided that those funds would be disbursed annually to selected organizations that provide shelter to those who cannot provide for themselves.
The first year there were two real estate offices involved and $50.00 was distributed to two organizations. In 1991 the funds increased to $3,000 and the number of offices grew to seven and included many businesses in the community affiliated with the Association. Over the years, the Monroe Downriver Regional Association of REALTORS and its affiliate partners have donated over $60,000 to local organizations with monies collected through closings and events like this.
We are honored to be able to support organizations in our community that provide shelter for those in need. Some of those organizations that have been helped throughout the years include;
Philadelphia HouseHeartbeat of Monroe
M.C.O.P.Family Counseling & Shelter Services
The Salvation Army
The Housing Trust Fund
New Beginnings Mercy House
On behalf of the members of the Monroe Downriver Regional Association of REALTORS thank you and we look forward to working with the community to end homelessness in the county.
